Time Out

Posted on 2007-Dec-12 at 06:47 - Post Comment

I've been taking a couple of days off from writing and reading. I realised that I'd been reading too many history books and that if I didn't stop, my new script would turn into a history peace and not a herstory.

Actually, I am the fastest reader in history. Always have been. When it comes to reading, no one can beat me - I scan through the pages. I am superwoman. (In contrast, I am not a very quick writer. I've never learnt to typewrite well. Simply, because I'm too impatient.) But I am learning to slow down, in my reading as well as in life.

Never allowing yourself to slow down, you take a huge risk. You risk missing out on the good parts. You risk missing out on some really good moments and ideas and those moments and those ideas may never come back.

What I know and I am still learning: Doing things quickly can actually slow things down.

Things I like to do when I am taking a time out:

Decorate

Watch sit-coms

Play music

Take a bath

Try a new recipe

Drink a glass of wine

Go for long walks

Play with my son!!!
