FILM OUTREACH AS A TOOL OF MASSIVE EVANGELISM

In these end times, the Lord is making use of weapons hitherto unknown to wage war against the forces of darkness, and bring more people  in to  His glorious kingdom.one of such weapon is film and drama evangelism .

This medium ,satan has effectively used in the past to destroy many lives,harden the hearts and caused many believers to slip back into the world.these he did by saturating the viewing public with demonic stories via blue, occultism,crime,horror,and so called love films.so much has satan employed this medium that even believers find it difficult to draw a line between what they should watch and what  not to watch .

Most of these messages come in such subtle manner that the devilish intentions in them are not easily identified,

A seemingly harmless love story may in actual fact be turning the attention  of the viewers to an alternative source of deliverance or power apart from GOD.

This  explains why some denomination  have labeled the television a devil box  in addition to banning their member from owning one . however, that,s not  God,s will for television.

It  is a good news to declare that so called devil box has now become God,s box in Nigeria .hundreds of thousands of people have given their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ through evangelical Christian films either transmitted on local channels or sold out to the public as home video cassettes.

Today, in Nigeria , Christian films are gradually taking the place of the ungodly secular films on the television screens especially during public holidays which were hitherto filled up with devilish films. These Christian films are purely evangelical with great emphasis on salvation,revival and deliverance. Testimony abound of people who have been saved and delivered from the bounds of serious demonic oppression after watching a Christian film.

With the transmission of Christian films in NIGERIA , the eyes of many have been opened to the true sources of their spiritual problems which for years had defiled solution.

In a society like Africa ,where occultism and witchcraft are dominant,the   lives of many

Are held in total bondage and remote controlled by forces of darkness.

Christian  films expose these secrets as given by divine revelation and information.there are also testimonies of people who confessed that their lives have been exposed after watching Christian film.

Apart from that ,Christian films have another advantage of commanding the attention of the largest crowds ever. crusades and revivals in most cases now open their programme with film show or stage drama ministrations in order to attract people,and it works; people  easily get attracted to  any thing audio – visual , especially film show with good multi -media projector; shown on good screen.

There is hardly a crusade in  NIGERIA now with out a film show .or drama ministration

Another advantage of the new breed of film evangelism rising up in NIGERIA is that they appeal  better to the sentiments of the audience because of the  appropriateness of the message ,plot, setting, costumes, languages etc. to the conditions and experiences of the people.these films also bear relevance to the socio –political and cultural values of the viewing public .this is why they are preferred to foreign  Christian films which the local population finds difficult to appreciate.even when the same film had been subtitled in the local languages,the average Nigerian still does not  get carried along with the story line. Coupled with this is the fact that pronounciation becomes a major barrier of communication to the Nigerian public when it comes to foreign films ..Americans and Europeans normally speaks  too fast for an average African to comprehend,.

However ,the locally made  films are easily understanding, success of new breed evangelical Christian films in NIGERIA.

Coming with this development of Christian films in Nigeria is a steady vise of Christian drama ministers who are burden with with the vision of spreading the gospel through audio visual means .so much is the burden of evangelical drama both on the stage and in films that quite a number of these new breed  of ministers have gone on full time ministerial operations.

It is noteworthy to say that these  ministers have no prior professional training in cinematography or dramatic arts, rather they simply  responded to God,s call to move into active  soul wining through stage drama or film production.

Though with out any professional training in cinematography or dramatic arts, the lord is using these ministers  to do exploits as new Christian films today stand ahead and are better favoured in the market than secular films.

This state of affairs has caused secular film producers to make attempts to copy  Christian films  by presenting pseudo-gospel messages.

Indeed ,the Lord is using the foolish things of the  world to confound the wise .there is still much fallowed grounds to be broken  in evangelical Christian films in Nigeria.the rest of AFRICA and the black world is the immediate target now.

Already ,evangelical Christian films have been pouring into other African countries and some in EUROPE AND AMERICA.

Jesus , in sending out HIS disciples , said “go ye into all nations and preach the gospel,” the  manner and style to use was left for them to use their own initiative to fashion out in conjuction with the holy spirit .today, evangelical films and drama are fulfillments of this. They are part of the holy spirit,s inventions for the last days. 

EVANGELICAL FILM AS A TOOL OF GOSPEL COMMUNICATION

FILM  ,simply  put , is a work of art on celluloid , while communication is the life blood of the world;the transmission of information, ideas or feelings from one person to another. Of all the media of mass communication,the motion picture film or home movies  has perhaps the most univesal appeal and impact.properly conceived  nad executed, a filmcan rise above the limitations of languages  and cultural barriers by the powers of its visual images,it,s use of music and sound effects .

Moreover it can succeed in conveying much the same message to audiences of heterogeneous backgrounds.

The significance of film as a tool of communication has been very well articulated by David sills (1972) in terms which demands quoting’cinema  is a world wide language that can be grasped by the illiterate as well as the educated.

Nothing less than the control of men,s mind,s and emotion at stake”.

The use of film as a communicative medium principally is to entertain, instruct,subjugate, persuade,propagate,the overall social political economic and educational needs of the contemporary world that are deeply dependent on communication in its various forms,film inclusive.

Film is known to be a highly effective medium for the dissemination of information to the church of GOD and the world

The colonial administration exploited the film medium to the fullest by producing a lot of documentaries designed prinscipally for the attainment of their imperialist objectives.

Film,then, with it,s high communication potential,remains the most important medium for the proper mobilization of the people towards specific national objectives.

In further recognizing the communicative potential of films ,film must be used to communicate the LORD,s message i.e. salvation holiness,end time events ,the coming of the LORD and other important gospel messages

We need film or home movies that will open the eye of the sinners to the saving grace of our lord Jesus CHRIST  ,

To  be sincers we need films that will raise the consciousness of our people  to learn about the LORD and the mighty exploit of the spirit of GOD at this end time.

We must dicourage evil secular film that brig into remembrance old cultural heritage,idol worshipping,and immorality.

We need films that will evolve the people in national objectives that will mould our consciousness towards mass evangelism for the all round propagation of the gospel.

If our film can meet this objectives they shall have fulfilled their proper role in the society, as the most effective form of communication and personality and national character moulder.

Beware of Nigerians

I've been victimized by two supposedly Christian Nigerians, one claiming to have some financial instrument to deposit and another pretending to be a female on a singles website. So I recommend everyone who can't really afford to lose a large amount of money to ignore everything they say. Anyone who really wants to do business in Nigeria better be able to hire a lawyer and bounty hunter and send them to Nigeria to investigate and find out exactly who you're dealing with before making any agreement. If the people you send aren't killed, you'll be lucky. Remember Nigeria is mostly a Moslem nation.
