MODERN DAY MESSIAH

BLACK SCREEN

WE HEAR the unmistakeable sound of feet shuffling across a floor. TITLES AND CREDITS ROLL during

this sequence. In the distance, the muffled sound of mortar fire can be heard. We have the sense that

we are deep underground or in a cave. Grunts and groans eminate from the darkness as if someone

were struggling with a great burden. A thud is heard and then a sigh of relief. There is a 'beat' and then

the ruffling sound of a hand frantically searching for something. Paper is ruffled...a heavy object is

disturbed, wobbled, and then corrected until all is silenced. We hear the pull of a match and then the

strike as ...

INT.-DWELLING-TIME UNKNOWN

WE CLOSE on the burning match as it slowly begins to tremble. We can see that the hand holding it is

wrapped in filthy bandages; dried blood caked on the fingers. We follow it as it moves; barely

illuminating the wick of a large candle. As it lights the wick, WE PULL BACK SLOWLY revealing the

silhouetted figure as it methodically lights more candles. With the lighting of each new candle, we

begin to see the decadence, the squalor, and the vastness of the room. Through fallen debris, as WE

CONTINUE TO PULL BACK, WE SEE scrolls of paper stacked neatly into what appears to be plastic

milk crates. Dozens, perhaps hundreds, stacked as high as a man can reach and as far as the light

reveals. The figure leans wearily on a huge makeshift desk, perhaps a workbench in a destroyed

factory, and pulls a sheet of paper from the top of a stack.

I am hunted by all men. They have killed

my children, my family and all who have

known me. I have revealed the truth and

I must be stopped. All the nations of the

world are participating in this hunt. Entire

cities have been erased from existence for

what I have done. I have been blamed

for the slaughter. I have no army. I have no

following that I know. I have nothing but

knowledge and truth and faith. I was told

this would happen and I prepared. But the

final days are soon and I must be ready...

...to die for what I have done.
