Remember that when people tell you no,it's just one more no closer to that yes. It's coming so be encouraged and keep doing you and expounding of the gift that God has placed inside of you.

Hello Friends

Just doing my thing...still writing, contacting magazines with queries to ensure homes for my articles. Got my results back from the screenplay competition, didn't even make the semi finals. But that is okay, I know it is a good screenplay, just the right person hasn't gotten a hold of it yet. That's one thing I'm a firm believer in, I know that I can write, I may not be the best...I know for sure I'm not the worst. So, the timing is just not right, and the right person is not in place. I'm already or nearly finished with my second full length screenplay, at least that I want to market. I can see Denzel Washington Directing this one...Pretentious, I know, but I am standing on it or I'll take a fairly reputable director who wants to take a chance on a unknown like me...he he he!!!

God is So Good!!!

I've been so busy to post on my blog here, I apologize for my absence. God has been working in and through me tremendously and it hasn't always been a pleasant journey. The journey of change, growth and improvement is often times a bumpy road. I just continue to ask the Lord to be patient with me. I Love Him so much and I want to be a Good and Faithful Servant.

Now, what's been going on with me. I recently entered my ScreenPlay "The Good Ground" into the Kairos Prize (John Templeton Sponsored) Screenplay competition. We will not know the results of winners until February, so patience is def. a virtue right about now!

I also just published an article with Empowering Everyday Women Magazine on the issue of Hip Hop, Black Women and how Femininity is no longer appreciated by society in general. I'm in Love...

with this entire process of screenwriting. As a writer, a published novelist I love the Written Word. I love the intimacy of paper and pencil and creating a world so different than my own. At first I wasn't sure if script writing would do it for me the same as writing novels. But it has been an awesome process, and I'm learning so much about screenwriting. My Spec Script is coming along great, I know I'm gonna have to edit, edit and edit some more. I just want to get this story out of me before I explode with it. I am already at about 86 pages and I know I'm going over the industry limits but I first have to get the story out then edit. I may get up to 200 pages or more before it's all said and done to which I will continue to write it, but later I will figure out what needs to go. Again edit, edit and edit still some more. But I'm loving it!

Ebony Magazine accepted an Article Critique I submitted

I'm just so excited about my clip being showcased in Ebony Magazine, which is a national magazine. I critiqued an article on Mr. and Mrs. Barack Obama and they chose my critique out of thousands that were sent in to them. It wasn't a paid deal, but I am still happy to have my name in such an established magazine (Miriam Adams-Washington) and they got the spelling right and eveything. Look for it when your at the grocery checkout lane, grab a Ebony magazine, flip to page 28 and you'll see my clip. God is good all the time!

From Author to Screenwriter

Within the last year I have felt a tug towards screenwriting. I just got this funny feeling in my stomach when I started thinking about it, that butterfly effect, that good nervousness that comes upon us when something captures our interest. It was actually the same feeling I got when I first began my writing career, when I actually got the unction that I could write a book, an awakening of sorts. I have hand written four notebooks on this second book I was to published, and I wrote for months almost non-stop, but then I came to a stand still, it wasn't the old writers block that everyone talks about, I don't really believe in writers block too much. But this was more like a halting to not go on in the direction I was going, it was as if I couldn't go on with the finishing of 'the book'. So for months I did nothing with it, I wanted to but I couldn't. I must say that I have always seen this book more in movie style even more so than my first book. This book which is set in Mexico, I literally saw in segments and acts like in a movie. It was strange.

There is still much I need to learn about screenwriting and I am so excited to learn it all, I tried my hand at the format and it seemed to come naturally to me, but of course I must study more to make it perfect. So that is why I have started this blog to network with other aspiring or accomplished screenwriters who can help me perfect this craft. So looking forward to being a part of this blog scene.
